WHERE IS ZOOMARS?
ZOOMARS is located near the coast midway between Los Angeles and San Diego in San Juan Capistrano. Depending on which direction you’re coming from, below are the easiest ways to get there.

You can also click the link below for turn-by-turn instructions from exactly where you’re starting out. There is a public parking lot on Los Rios Street one house over from us.

DIRECTIONS FROM MY STARTING POINT

COMING FROM THE NORTH
Take the 5 FREEWAY SOUTH and exit at ORTEGA HIGHWAY. At the end of the offramp, turn right on ORTEGA. Immediately turn left at the first traffic light onto DEL OBISPO. Follow DEL OBISPO as it curves around and go straight through the intersection at CAMINO CAPISTRANO. Once you pass over the railroad tracks turn right at the first light which is PASEO ADELANTO. The ZOOMARS parking lot is on the right hand side just past the Ito Nursery. You can also continue around the corner onto Ramos Street and turn right on Los Rios. Up ahead on the right is a public parking lot.

ALTERNATIVE DIRECTIONS FOR MORE PUBLIC PARKING
After exiting the 5 FREEWAY, stay straight on ORTEGA until you reach CAMINO CAPISTRANO. (You’ll see the Trading Post straight ahead and the Mission to your right.) Turn left on CAMINO CAPISTANO and make an immediate right at the first street you come to which is VERDUGO. At the end of VERDUGO turn left into the FREE PARKING GARAGE or right into the FREE PUBLIC PARKING LOT. Walk across the tracks and you’ll see signs for ZOOMARS to the left.

GENERAL INFORMATION

FEEDING REGULATIONS

Only food sold as “animal feed” may be fed to the animals at ZOOMARS. No outside food can be given. Feeding animals candy or certain types of human foods can seriously hurt or even kill them. Aside from what they receive from our visitors, the animals are also provided with species-specific diets to insure a healthy life.

REFRESHMENTS

Sodas, juices, water and snacks are sold in our gift shop.

PETS

To safeguard the health of our animals and prevent them from being frightened or bit, dogs and other pets are not permitted inside the zoo.

STROLLERS

Stroller parking is available near the front gate.

REST ROOMS

Until permanent rest rooms are built, visitors will be directed to the public bathrooms at the train station or the port-a-potty facility located in the ZOOMARS parking lot.

LOST AND FOUND

Lost articles can be inquired about at the front entrance.

LOST CHILDREN

Parents or guardians who become separated from their youngsters should go to the front desk or main office so that all zoo personnel can be notified.

SAFETY FIRST

During your visit to ZOOMARS, please remember that you are interacting with animals; they are generally tame and friendly, but they can still scratch and bite should they get frightened, excited or starteled. Accidents should be reported to a zookeeper immediately so that the proper attention can be given. First aid kits are kept at both the entrance gate and the ZOOMARS office.

SMOKING

For the safety of our animals, and as a courtesy to non-smoking guests, ZOOMARS is a smoke-free environment.

HELP KEEP THE PETTING ZOO CLEAN

Waste receptacles are placed at convenient locations throughout the grounds. Please help us maintain a clean environment by putting litter in its place.
